The Pounce: Generally a hunter's best friend. If you don't already know how to do this after any versus playtime, then I suggest you sincerely consider buying a Sonic game, and never returning to Left 4 Dead. (As cruel as that may sound.) But, for those of you that may be brand spanking new, here's how to do it.

  • Hold crouch. If you don't do this, then you'll end up saying "SUP!" to Louis. Which, believe it or not, is not a good thing.
  • While holding crouch, click your attack button (generally mouse1, or Left Click), and you'll pounce forward.
  • Aim higher in the air to go further
  • Try to hit/land on a survivor. If you succeed, then proceed to maul them. (Which does not require any other buttons or anything. Once you land, you can go get a drink or get laid and you will continue to maul them)

Congratulations, you've landed a pounce. (must I make a video for this? I believe it's pretty straightforward, as it also tells you how to do this in the game)

The Damage Pounce: The hunter's second best friend, the damage pounce. Performed exactly the same as a regular pounce, just higher/further away from the survivor. Once you land these pounces, you do instant damage to the survivor (up to 25 max) depending on how far away you are. The difficulty here varies. Here's how you do it.

  • You'll want to climb a ladder or a railing to get onto a rooftop for this. You can use some of the more difficult methods I will be discussing later on to get up on massively, sickeningly, nauseatingly high buildings/towers/trees/other tall things, but for now lets keep it simple.
  • Usually you want to do this when the survivors are in a tight group (unless you're pro) to make sure you land on a survivor.
  • To do this, just pounce them from a high building. Vague I know, but I'll have some methods in approximately 2.4 seconds.
  • A good method (haha, told you) to land pounces, that I find, is to aim high, over their heads. This may be difficult because you can't see their outlines, but this is perfect if they were just boomered or one is smokered/pounced. You pounce until you are overtop of them in the air, then simply hit S (or your default "down" key). This will cause you just to stop miraculously mid-air, and fall on their heads, causing damage.

Note: This will probably require some practice. Don't instantly go straight for the tallest building around. If you're new to this, just try to get 5 damage, and keep bumping it up bit by bit.

  • A good thing to note: Damage pounces are measured by distance from point A (where you jumped from) to point B (where you land). This means that pouncing from right beside Zoey, straight into the air and down on her doesn't do any damage whatsoever, because you started from close to her. Take this into consideration. If you can jump straight off a building and onto someone (which is probably easier) then go for it, you'll do the same damage you would if you flew 9 feet in the air.

Note 2 (the important one): For the love of God, use this with care. First of all try to avoid practicing massive jumps you'll never land mid versus game, because you probably won't do much. Secondly, don't setup 10 minutes in advance and wait for the survivors. Your team needs you. You should only setup when they're very close, but make sure you're safe so they don't shoot your face in.
